Two-vehicle crash kills Las Vegas woman

A 64-year-old woman died after her car was struck in an east valley intersection Sunday morning.

Las Vegas police said she was traveling north on Page Street when she stopped at the intersection of Stewart Avenue, near Lamb Boulevard.

Police said she stopped at the stop sign in her 2001 Chevrolet Malibu before pulling in front of a 2003 Nissan Altima that was traveling east on Stewart.

The Nissan struck the Chevrolet on the driver's side, and the woman, Maria Perez-Espinoza of Las Vegas, died at a hospital, according to police.

A 70-year-old passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, 31-year-old Alejandro Gallaga-Arroyo of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries.

A 13-year-old boy in the car also suffered minor injuries.

The incident was the 36th fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
