Two-week old Miller wildfire expanding in New Mexico

SILVER CITY, N.M. -- A wildfire burning for more than two weeks in and near the rugged Gila Wilderness in southwest New Mexico has grown to more than 70,000 acres.

Officials said Sunday that the Miller fire is 20 percent contained, but there's still no estimate for full containment.

Crews are now deploying to protect the historic White Creek and Prior cabins.

The human-caused blaze broke out April 28. It moved past the Gila Cliff Dwellings without damaging the ancient American Indian ruins.
