UFC 98: Machida tops Evans for crown; Hughes defeats Serra
Lyoto Machida, left, knocked champion Rashad Evans out cold late in the second round to earn the Ultimate Fighting Championship's light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 98 at the MGM Grand tonight.
Machida rocked Evans with a combination of short punches, then kept the pressure on by continuously throwing shots while Evans tried to recover. Finally, Machida landed a huge left with Evans standing against the cage that sent the champion awkwardly to the mat and forced the referee to stop the fight.
Hughes defeats Serra
Matt Hughes used his superior wrestling skills to secure a unanimous decision over Matt Serra in the co-main event of UFC 98. All three judges scored the fight, 29-28.
