UNLV athletic director may land Marshall job

UNLV athletic director Mike Hamrick is in Huntington, W.Va., and could be named Marshall's AD on Monday.

"I'm just flattered that my alma mater would want to visit with me about this position," Hamrick said.

Hamrick, 51, offered no further comment. West Virginia newspapers are reporting Marshall is planning a 10:30 a.m. PDT news conference Monday to announce its new athletic director. Hamrick appeared to be the leading candidate. A source close to the situation told the Review-Journal no news conference has been scheduled yet but that could change. The source said Hamrick "is being heavily pursued." Hamrick is planning to interview with a hiring committee and other groups on Monday.

Hamrick has one year left on his contract at UNLV. He earns $285,000 annually.
