Valley can expect cooler temperatures this week

The National Weather Service has some good news for Las Vegans.

A cooldown is in store for the valley, which means temperatures will drop closer to seasonal average highs of about 99 degrees by Tuesday afternoon, meteorologist Chris Outler said Saturday.

Saturday afternoon temperatures peaked at 107 degrees, but Sunday's high will fall to 103, Outler said. Monday will reach 102 and double-digits temperatures are expected "from there on."

No precipitation is in the valley's forecast for the next five days, Outler said. Some scattered showers will fall on Mohave County, Ariz., but rainfall is not expected to reach Las Vegas.
