Valley man dies of fire-related injuries
A man in his mid-70s died last week from injuries he suffered in an Aug. 1 fire in his garage.
The man suffered second-degree burns to his back, arms and head and died at the burn unit at University Medical Center, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department. His name was not released.
The man was in the bathroom of his home, at 1849 Spangle Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive, when he heard noises coming from the garage about 8 a.m. When he opened the door, he noticed the garage was full of smoke, Fire Department officials said. Investigators believe he let an influx of oxygen into the garage, which caused the fire to flash.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
