Vandals smash scores of vehicle windows

More than two dozen residents living in the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley awoke Sunday to find that windows of their vehicles had been broken, Las Vegas police said.
Police said at least 25 people reported windows on their vehicles were shattered in the area in the neighborhoods around Desert Inn Road and Sahara Avenue between Interstate 215 and Decatur Boulevard.
Police believe the windows may have been shot out with a BB gun early Sunday morning.
The vandals appeared to have targeted sport utility vehicles.
Curtis Gentz, 54, who lives near Sahara and Fort Apache Road, said his neighbor alerted him Sunday morning that the rear window of his 1996 Toyota 4-Runner was shattered. He had parked his vehicle in his driveway.
Gentz said several of his neighbors in The Lakes neighborhood also reported on Sunday that the rear windows of their vehicles had been broken.
Gentz said the neighborhood was hit by a similar vandalism spree about a year ago.
"It's probably young people with too much time on their hands and not enough direction in life," he said.
