Viewing schedule for models of veterans memorial changes

The viewing schedule for models depicting ideas for a veterans memorial in Las Vegas' Huntridge Circle Park has been changed to minimize the risk of damage to the models.

They were supposed to be carted around to several locations in the city. But the models are fragile and already have suffered some damage on the way to the first viewing location.

The revised viewing times and locations are the following:

■ Today through Saturday at American Shooters, 3440 S. Arville St. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Friday and from 9 a.m. to
6 p.m. Saturday.

■ Tuesday through July 20 at the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. The center's display hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to
9 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

On July 21 the designs will be presented at the Las Vegas City Council meeting. A committee will choose the winning design in mid-August.

The Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Association, a private nonprofit group, is raising money for the memorial, which will be donated to the city.
