Voir dire revisited: 50 or 500?
About those missing O.J. Simpson juror questionnaires: It turns out only ones kept immediately available were the unredacted versions of the original 50 sought by the R-J and AP.
The local court took the state Supreme Court literally when it wrote: "Thus, the subsequent release of the redacted juror questionnaires did not cure the district court’s original order to deny the press’s request for access. However, even if the court had initially considered redaction as an alternative, we nonetheless conclude that the court’s ultimate redaction was not reasonable based on the district court’s failure to make specific findings or provide discernible criteria. Thus, the press was entitled to all requested juror questionnaires in an unredacted form."
Does that mean the 50 or the 500? I would interpret as the latter, but since they still insist on charging the paper $1 a page, that would, as they say, make the matter moot.
