WEEK IN REVIEW: Reporters’ notebook
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman doesn't show up on this page as often as her wisecracking husband did when he was mayor, but she does come up with the occasional one-liner.
At a news conference to talk about some downtown festivities, she broke script to note how fun Las Vegas is.
"Prince Harry had it right," she said. "Came to Vegas to have a good time."
Except for the whole getting caught part, she noted. You're not supposed to get caught.

OUT-OF-CONTEXT QUOTE OVERHEARD IN THE NEWSROOM: "I'm not going to be the one breathing fire."
TWITTER CONVERSATION OF THE WEEK: @ksmash (Kirsten Mashinter, whose bio says she's from the Republic of Georgia) Dear @nevadadot. ... The rest area near Wadsworth really needs extra staffing & cleaning during the #burningman exodus. It was f-o-u-l today.
@nevadadot (The Nevada Department of Transportation) @ksmash Hi Kirsten, we have crews that regularly maintain the rest stops. They were a little overwhelmed this weekend. Sorry!
BONUS TWEET OF THE WEEK
@RJVegasBeat (Review-Journal City of Las Vegas reporter Benjamin Spillman) @CityofLasVegas council voted to table the proposed #FoodTruck ordinance to protect restaurants. Get it? Table! Food! Ha!
Clark County commissioners don't look poised to change the name of McCarran International Airport, despite the fact that its namesake, Sen. Pat McCarran, is not well liked these days. Sen. Harry Reid even called him "one of the most prejudiced people ever to serve in the Senate."
It was pointed out that the name of Floyd Lamb State Park in northwest Las Vegas wasn't changed, even after Lamb was convicted in 1983 of taking a $23,000 bribe during an FBI sting. We'll be looking forward to the official grand opening of the Herrera-Kenny-Kincaid-Chauncey county headquarters in the future.
