What’s a signature worth?
Harrah’s Entertainment CEO Gary Loveman may sign off on over a multimillion-dollar deals with just a signature all the time, but that what’s his signature really worth?
Just $6.99 plus $1 shipping, according to an eBay auction of one of his signed business cards that ended Monday.
The autographed business card was sold by Texas-based eBay member coolskeds. An e-mail to the seller, whose identity is protected by eBay privacy standards, was not returned.
Loveman himself found the whole idea of his signed business card being auctioned off rather humorous.
“$6.99 for my business card,” Loveman said Tuesday when told about the auction. “That’s a 35,000 percent markup. Perhaps we should add these to our gift shops.”
A look at coolskeds’ profile shows the seller primarily auctions business cards signed by sports figures such as Ohio State football coach Jim Tressell ($4.99) and National Basketball Association Hall-of-Fame player and executive Jerry West ($5.99).
