Wind gusts today might exceed 50 mph

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Southern Nevada, portions of southeastern California and northwestern Arizona from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Strong winds are expected to develop ahead of an unusually strong front of low pressure, according to the service's Web site. South and southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts reaching more than 50 mph.

Dust and sand raised by the wind might affect visibility on roads. Motorists should use extra caution and be alert to rapidly changing conditions.
