Windsurfer feared drowned

After more than a day of searching for him, authorities believe a 39-year-old North Las Vegas man drowned Wednesday evening at Lake Mead.

Erus O'Connor Matanguihan has been missing since he was seen about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday falling into the lake near the Boulder Islands, authorities said.

Witnesses said they saw him go into the water but never saw him surface. Winds were high on the lake at the time, and he was not wearing a flotation vest.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday, National Park Rangers found Matanguihan's windsurfer between Sentinel and Saddle Islands. They continued their search for him Thursday but to no avail.
