Woman dies after car rolls into ditch

A 25-year-old woman died after being involved in a single-vehicle accident at the Las Vegas Beltway at Rainbow Boulevard around 8:55 p.m. Monday, authorities said.

The woman was identified as Melinda Fisher of Las Vegas, originally from Merritt Island, Fla.

Fisher, traveling in a 2005 Toyota Scion, was heading east on the Beltway and was exiting on the Rainbow ramp when for an unknown reason the vehicle left the road and careened down a rock gore, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Scion rolled over a metal guard rail, through a chain link fence and fell into a drainage ditch south of the Beltway.

Fisher was taken to University Medical Center where she died at 10:12 p.m., according to the Clark County coroner's office.

The wreck was under investigation.
