Woman found fatally stabbed

Las Vegas police on Friday evening were questioning a man in his late 20s in connection with the stabbing death of his wife in a possible domestic violence dispute in the northwest valley.

Homicide detective Sgt. Matthew Sanford said the man walked into the Metropolitan Police Department’s Northwest Area Command at 3 p.m. Friday and told police that he had “injured” his wife, who was found dead 20 minutes later by responding officers at Camden Village Apartments in the 6500 block of Torrey Pines Avenue just south of Lake Mead Boulevard.

Late Friday evening, four detectives were at the scene of the ground-floor apartment, “canvassing it” for evidence, and waiting for the Clark County coroner’s office to retrieve the body of the woman, who’s believed to be in her late 20s, Sanford said.

Sanford said police do not have a record of having responded to the apartment for previous domestic violence calls.

“Domestic violence is common,” said Sanford, “and people should seek help if they feel they’re going to lose control.”
