Woman involved in Saturday motorcycle crash dies

The woman involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday in North Las Vegas died from her injuries early Thursday morning at University Medical Center. She was identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Demetria Gatlin, 36, of North Las Vegas.

North Las Vegas police said Gatlin was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Derek Trotter, 40, when they crashed about 12:37 p.m. on Lake Mead Boulevard near Bruce Street.

Trotter, also of North Las Vegas, died at the scene.

The motorcycle was heading west on Lake Mead when it collided with a Nissan Versa that was making a left turn. Police said the motorcyclist's excessive speed might have been a factor.

The 83-year-old man driving the Nissan submitted to a blood test. There was no sign that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but police had not received the results as of Thursday.
