Woman killed in crash ID’d

The woman who died when her car struck a light pole Monday morning has been identified as 50-year-old Wendy Elkins of Las Vegas.

Elkins was driving a 2002 Infiniti sedan west on Charleston Boulevard near Hualapai Way when she swerved into the center median and hit a light pole, according to Las Vegas police.

The 10:49 a.m. accident caused the left front wheel of the car to come off and strike a bus traveling in oncoming traffic. The driver of the bus was not injured.

Elkins was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The Clark County coroner's office determined that she died of head and neck injuries that she sustained in the accident.
