Woman killed in single-car accident

A 31-year-old woman was killed when her car slammed into a light pole in the eastern valley Wednesday.

Las Vegas police spokesman Jacinto Rivera said the woman, who was not identified, ran into the pole in the 5600 block of East Sahara Avenue, near Sloan Lane, about 4:30 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed was considered the contributing factor in the accident, Rivera said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
