A 61-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Tuesday evening while jaywalking on Lake Mead Boulevard west of Buffalo Drive.

Las Vegas police said the woman, who was not identified, was crossing Lake Mead from south to north and walked into the path of a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound in the left lane.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver of the Volkswagen, 22-year-old Maggi Goldman, was not injured in the 6:13 p.m. incident.
