Woman’s body found as crews battle house fire

A woman was found dead in the entryway of a burning home at the western edge of Summerlin late Sunday, Clark County Fire Department officials said.

The body was found as crews battled a fire at 8 Panorama Crest Ave., a 4,380-square-foot house west of Desert Inn Road and the Las Vegas Beltway, fire spokesman Scott Allison said.

The woman's name and cause of death have not been released.

Allison said the woman was not the homeowner and may have been a visitor. She was the only person in the house at the time of the blaze, which started about 9 p.m. County records show the house has five bedrooms and 51/2 bathrooms and last sold in 2002 for nearly $1 million.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

Foul play is not thought to have played a role in the fire, Allison said.
