Woodbury backs McCain

Clark County Commissioner Bruce Woodbury said Tuesday he is signing on with the presidential campaign of Republican John McCain.

"I like three or four of the Republican candidates, but he's my favorite," Woodbury said. He said he was in discussions with the campaign about what his title would be on McCain's committee of Nevada supporters.

Woodbury, a commissioner for 26 years, is one of Southern Nevada's most prominent Republicans. He serves as chairman of the Regional Transportation Commission.

Brooke Buchanan, a McCain campaign spokeswoman, said the full Nevada committee would be announced later this week.

Of Woodbury's colleagues on the commission, Democrat Rory Reid, the commission chairman, serves as chairman of Hillary Clinton's Nevada campaign, while Republican Chip Maxfield is one of several co-chairmen of Mitt Romney's state finance committee.
