Wreckage of plane that left Henderson found with two dead

The wreckage of a twin-engine plane that left the Henderson Executive Airport for Compton, Calif. on Monday was recovered Thursday morning with two people dead, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman confirmed today.

Ian Gregor said the wreckage of the Cessna 340 was found at about 1:50 a.m. today about six miles northwest of the Rialto Airport in California, about 60 miles away from Compton.

He said the plane was reported overdue on Wednesday by a family member of one of the people on board the plane. He doesn’t know why it took two days for someone to report the aircraft missing, he said.

The victims will be identified by the local coroner’s office. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
