Yes, it’s hot: Las Vegas ties record high for May 17

Las Vegas tied the record high for May 17 at 102 degrees Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The last time Las Vegas hit 102 degrees this early in the year was in 2009, the weather service said. Friday was the first day of the year that the valley entered triple-digit weather, with 100 degrees.

Temperatures will fall just a bit Sunday with a mostly sunny forecast and a high of 95 degrees and low of 72 degrees in the evening. Winds will be light and variable during the day, coming from the southwest with speeds of 12 to 17 mph. It will be a breezy Sunday night with wind speeds of 13 to 22 mph, and gusts to 30 mph.

Next week’s temperatures should stay within the 70- to 90-degree range.
