Agassi remains a good citizen
To the editor:
In response to Norm Clarke's columns on Andre Agassi's admission of drug use:
Did Mr. Agassi forget to give an interview to Mr. Clarke? Why else would the Review-Journal's gossip columnist be throwing Mr. Agassi under the bus the way he is?
Yes, Mr. Agassi did fall prey to drugs in the past, much like every other celebrity Mr. Clarke makes his living off of in his muckraking. I think most people hit a low point in their lives at one time or another. It's what you do with your life once you pick yourself up.
It's obvious to most Las Vegans that Mr. Agassi has far exceeded expectations with the accomplishments of the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education.
Andre Agassi is a good citizen of Nevada.

Capitalist tool
To the editor:
So, union leader Jimmy Hoffa Jr. and his band of thugs think that I and others like me are ìextremistsî because we don't believe in higher taxes on businesses to finance the socialist agenda of those in Washington (Monday Review-Journal editorial).
Well, I accept Mr. Hoffa labeling me an extremist if he admits that he stands for the complete destruction of private business through extreme taxation.
When tax collections and his wage demands have grown beyond the means of a business, it either closes, goes into bankruptcy or moves to where the wages and taxes aren't prohibitive.
Capitalism made this country great. I will stand by my ideals while Mr. Hoffa and his ilk drool over the socialists running -- and ruining -- this country.
