Death of Yucca Mountain not worth a news release?
February 8, 2010 - 10:00 pm
To the editor:
I find it shockingly unbelievable that so little coverage was given to the wonderful news that, thanks to Sen. Harry Reid and President Barack Obama, the Yucca Mountain Project is dead. I applaud Review-Journal columnist Jane Ann Morrison for speaking out about the fact that, shockingly, the city of Las Vegas didn't find it worthy of a news release.
Nevadans should be dancing in the streets because we have been saved from contamination from the dirtiest garbage in our nation. Those who lament the loss of jobs should realize that the Yucca workers would have been the first casualties. Who needs a job when you are deceased?
I wish I had access to a fair-minded newspaper that puts the welfare of the people above its relentless criticism of our president and all things Democratic.

Quit whining
To the editor:
Most Las Vegans proudly sneer at "political correctness," but when the president mentions Las Vegas as a place where people go potentially to waste money, they whine and cry because they are offended.
A suggested new slogan for Las Vegas: "Visit the City of Big Babies."

Failed zealotry
To the editor:
Now that the vaccination/autism connection has been completely debunked upon the admission from the British medical journal The Lancet that the original study purporting to find such a link was based on altered data, will Review-Journal columnist Vin Suprynowicz, the serial misinformer, admit his failed zealotry?
