For once, give Reid credit for getting it right

To the editor:
In response to your Friday editorial, "Concealed carry":
We all get it that you don't like Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., but you won't even allow some credit when he gets it right for the right.
You said Sen. Reid needed to "start to patch up his credentials with Nevada gun owners." The National Rifle Association went on record this month in a letter to Nevada's 30,000 members: "For many years now Harry Reid has been supporting our Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Senate. ... And his opposition to gun bans has been consistent during his tenure in office."
The NRA keeps better records on Sen. Reid and the Second Amendment than your editorial page.

Tort reform
To the editor:
Charles Krauthammer's point that heath care reform should contain tort reform couldn't be more right ("Why Obamacare is sinking," Sunday Review-Journal).
President Obama is trying to control chief executive officer salaries, doctors' incomes and virtually everything else on the planet, but he is not discussing tort reform. If the government limited attorney fees to 10 percent of the award as opposed to the usual 30 percent, you can bet that only the most egregious malpractice cases would be litigated.
By not considering tort reform, it is obvious President Obama isn't interested in controlling costs, but in taking control of our health care system.

Single payer
To the editor:
Single-payer health care is the only viable way to get medical costs down and the essental care a person needs.
We veterans already get socialized medicine, and it is the best thing going for millions.

Save GITMO!
To the editor:
Our government should keep the Guantanamo Bay detention camp open. Even if someday we don't need it to house terrorists, we could use it for corrupt and self-serving members of Congress.
However, we may need to make it bigger.
