Las Vegas has the worst drivers
To the editor:
When I see all of the automobile accidents reported in the news, I am not surprised. I have been all over the world and have lived in two major metropolitan areas Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. but the drivers here are the worst.
Speeding, not using turn signal indicators, not stopping before making a right on red and pulling out in front of people are just a few of the daily violations that I observe.
I dont care if you take your own life by driving carelessly, but I do care if you take an innocent person with you. And if you think no one can tell when you are talking on the phone or texting, anyone driving behind you can tell.

Time to resign
To the editor:
Sen. Harry Reid is currently supporting a second stimulus bill that would add $80 billion to the already skyrocketing federal debt. This clearly illustrates Sen. Reids total disregard and respect for taxpayer funds. He seems to think these dollars grow on trees.
You cant spend your way out of this problem, Sen. Reid. Your legacy will be imposing severe liabilities on our children and grandchildren that they will be unable to pay and will leave them with a much lower standard of living. Long term, meaningful job creation comes from the private sector, something of which Sen. Reid has no knowledge.
It is time to retire Sen. Reid in November. He is a disgrace to Nevada and the nation as a whole.

Right Angle
To the editor:
I have resisted writing before to protest the biased cartoons of Jim Day, but his Thursday cartoon criticizing Sharron Angle is a star too far.
Mr. Day is lost in deep space again in his warped Political Geometry cartoon. This kind of visual sabotage is just what Harry Reid needs. I thought the Review-Journal realized the astronomical hurdle that people of value and common sense have in dumping Sen. Reid and his red-dwarf political planetoids.
Whose side are you on? Ms. Angle is not obtuse, kind of acute, and definitely the right Angle.

Over his head
To the editor:
Barack Obama is a classic example of the Peter Principle theory he was promoted by the American people into a position where he became incompetent.
As a junior senator from Illinois, he never held a position where the No. 1 requirement was excellent leadership skills and experience. Consequently, as expected, Mr. Obama has demonstrated that he cannot lead and direct (through no fault of his own).
Epilogue: The American voters must exercise better judgment when they elect an individual into a position that requires specific skills and experience.
Unfortunately, the bureaucracy will allow Mr. Obama to founder/remain in his position as president at the expense of all Americans.

Taxpaying suckers
To the editor:
So the United States pledges $400 million to Gaza, which Mahmoud Abbas welcomed. Well, who wouldnt welcome it?
Yep, you can all count on the worlds biggest sucker, the American taxpayer, who funds literally anybody and everybody.
The problems of the entire world for some reason have fallen on the shoulders of us suckers. Correct me if Im wrong, but dont we have one or two problems here at home?
Does anyone ever notice the United States inundated with help and money from all over the world when we have problems? No.
And we wont, because the land of the free is exactly that, one great big giveaway, and everyone in the world is invited, compliments of the worlds biggest sucker, the American taxpayer.
Dont worry, the American tax dollars are tenacious in their pursuit and are a bottomless pit of wealth. Come one, come all. Enjoy the good life at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer.
Meanwhile, our brave troops hold down two war fronts, while our borders are under attack here at home by illegal immigrants.
And what do we do? The lawyers, most of whom are now running our country, file lawsuits against laws being passed to protect Americans from this illegal intrusion.
So what does this nation, with its two-party system, do while fighting two wars?
We exhibit to the entire world that we are anything but United States, as we bicker back and forth, doing nothing. What suckers.
All of us, the leadership we elected, but especially us, the American taxpayer.

Gold Butte
To the editor:
As a native Nevadan, I have followed in my grandfathers footsteps over much of Clark County.
The growth in our valley has required that much time and attention be directed toward ensuring the protection of special places.
Citizens in our valley still must work to stop actions that would impair the experience of the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area created in 2002. Gravel pits are what the BLM had recommended for the McCulloughs in the 70s. Thanks to Sen. Harry Reid and Sen. John Ensign and their actions that created the conservation area and now their strong voices against the proposed gravel pits the Sloan conservation area will once again come out the winner.
Now we need their strong voices united in the fight to preserve Gold Butte. The plea for preservation of the area has been going on far too many years. Gold Butte is being degraded and is scarred by misuse daily.
Please join in the fight for Gold Butte.
