LETTERS: Mayor, council need to rethink stadium

To the editor:

The Las Vegas City Council is considering a proposal whereby citizens would chip in their tax money to finance a downtown soccer stadium for the exclusive use of a bunch of millionaires. What a ridiculous idea. Instead, why don’t the millionaires chip in and help construct the proposed UNLV stadium, which would easily be able to host a professional soccer team, in addition to UNLV football, concerts and more?

Such a project would be much more beneficial to the city, the university and the taxpayers. I would support the use of some taxpayer money for a UNLV stadium, but not one dime for the millionaires’ charity soccer stadium.
