LETTERS: State’s voters don’t need earlier primary

To the editor:

The banner headline in the May 17 Review-Journal was mind-blowing to me (“Bill could foster perpetual politics”). Moving our primary elections from June to February? Four more months of trashy political posters along our roads, deteriorating even more. Four more months of political back-stabbing. Four more months for dirt to be dug and slung. Another four months for me to put the Review-Journal on hold and skip the news, watching only TV programs I have taped in advance, so that I can fast-forward through the political ads. Another four months for voters to study and decide who we want to vote for and thus ensure we elect only the best.

I suggest the majority of voters actually are intelligent enough to make their decisions on whom to vote for without another four months to “educate” themselves. It would be very interesting to see the results of a poll put together by the Review-Journal, to get some hard data on the percentage of voters who feel they need another four months in order to cast an intelligent vote.
