The silent majority has new name: tea party
March 21, 2011 - 1:02 am
To the editor:
In response to Helen O'Reilly, the self-described "old hippie" who wrote Wednesday in defense of the public sector:
Ms. O'Reilly states that she has had quite enough tea and wants her country back. She attempts to disparage the Tea Party movement by calling supporters "teabaggers."
Let me educate this "old hippie." As a business owner and tea party member, I can assure her that we are not a minority. You see, what used to be called the "silent majority" is now called the Tea Party. Her references to what is happening in Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa and Indiana are only the beginning.
What Ms. O'Reilly needs to learn is that everywhere Democrats have been in charge, states are in budget crisis. California and Nevada come to mind. Most Americans wants their country back from Democrats such as Ms. O'Reilly.
What you see now is only the beginning.
I suggest she gets those walking shoes she wrote about and find herself a different country. The Tea Party is taking this one back.

Green agenda
To the editor:
I just read the Wednesday letter by Benjamin Schreiber, the climate and energy tax analyst for the environmentalist group Friends of the Earth, in response to your March 10 editorial, "Soaking up green."
After reading his comments about dirty and dangerous coal and nuclear power, and the tax break for BPs cleanup operations in the Gulf of Mexico, I looked up his Green Scissors 2010 report, along with his group, Friends of the Earth.
I invite all your readers to do a search on these people, and see if you agree with them.
Their proposals would send the cost of energy to the moon.

Welcome back
To the editor:
Boy, was I excited last week when I read that one of the original teabags, Sharron Angle, was entering yet another political race ("Angle jumps into race to replace Heller," Thursday Review-Journal).
Yahoo! It's been so quiet and gloomy around here lately, but now we can all start laughing again at those ridiculous "truths" that come out of Ms. Angle's mouth in her 2012 bid for the 2nd Congressional District seat.
Looking forward to hearing from you again, Ms. Angle.

Selfless heroes
To the editor:
To the "Fukushima 50" and all the Japanese emergency workers who are staying on duty and at their posts: God bless you and Godspeed in your efforts.
We may never know how many lives you will save because of your efforts. Those lives saved may cost these men and women their lives. The world owes you all a debt that can never be properly repaid.
Please pray for them all.
