‘Thank God he’s the majority leader’

Count Pamela Anderson -- of "Baywatch" and Tommy Lee video fame -- among Harry Reid's biggest fans.

Ms. Anderson, who for the past few years has been a high-profile celebrity face for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the extremist animal rights group, has her own blog on www.pamelachannel.com. She's a modest sort -- calling herself the "most recognizable icon of the new millennium."

On her blog, the usual "subjects include announcing the title of her new reality-TV show and linking to a new study on how to cure hepatitis C through 'homeopathic therapy,' " The Washington Post reports.

Last month, though, the actress -- is that the right word? -- decided to delve into politics, sharing thoughts with her fans about lobbying Sen. Reid recently on behalf of her friends at PETA. Exactly what she sought from the Senate majority leader -- a ban on horse racing, the death penalty for those who use fly swatters? -- remains a mystery.

But following her meeting with our own Sen. Reid, Ms. Anderson was all aflutter on her blog, even gushing over Harry's new autobiography, which details his hard-scrabble upbringing in Searchlight.

"I'm thrilled to see all the buzz about Senator Harry Reid's new book, 'The Good Fight,' " she wrote. "Of all the leaders I met in Washington last month with Dan Mathews from PETA, Senator Reid was the most sincere, easygoing and obviously compassionate thank god he's the majority leader ... My BS-o-meter didn't flicker once around Harry Reid and it usually goes crazy around politicians, not to mention in Hollywood."

Wonder if Sen. Reid got an autographed picture -- for his grandkids, of course.

As for Ms. Anderson's BS-o-meter, she'd better get the battery checked.
