Mexican freetail bats took up residence about 25 to 30 years ago at McCarran International Airport’s employee parking garage. They roost within 2-inch nooks behind concrete panels lining the southern end of structure. “They don’t fly in your hair, they stay away from the airplanes and they tend to stay out of your way.” There’s no official count of McCarran’s bat population, but they could number in thousands. The bats primarily eat insects. They’ve been spotted feeding on bugs flying around the light beam shooting from Luxor. “They seem to be doing quite well at the airport.”

Whole Foods has become the latest company to be hacked. The Amazon-owned grocer said that customer payment information from credit and debit cards used at in-store restaurants was exposed to hackers. There is no word on which of the company’s stores were hacked. The hack did not affect those who shopped on Amazon.com or from the main-checkout.

Superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria was quick to act after several Air Force Academy students were victimized by racist speech. In a viral video circulating on Facebook, Silveria addressed his cadets, saying “If you can’t treat someone from another race or different color skin with dignity and respect, then you need to get out.” According to CNN affiliate KRDO, the message “Go home,” followed by the N-word, was written in black marker on the message boards of five black cadet candidates. The academy reported it will conduct an investigation. “This is our institution, and no one can take away our values.”
Clark County School District officials have crafted a policy that spells out how teachers should interact with students on social media. It also requires volunteers who have regular or unsupervised contact with students to undergo fingerprinting and background checks. Development of the policy follows a series of sexual misconduct cases involving teachers and other district employees and students. Parents were infuriated. The Las Vegas Review-Journal chronicled the wrongdoing and the search for solutions in its “Broken Trust” series.

Musk said a journey from New York to Shanghai can be done in about 30 minutes. He also said that the cost per seat The “BFR” would contain 40 cabins capable of transporting 100 people at a time.
Royal Caribbean has canceled its upcoming Adventure of the Seas trip in order to use the ship to help the people of Puerto Rico. The ship is delivering supplies and will help evacuate stranded tourists and people in need. The ship will also stop at St. Croix and St. Thomas. It will arrive in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Tuesday.
