State prison gets a reprieve from ax

CARSON CITY — The State Prisons Board voted 2-1 Tuesday not to close the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City to save money in tight economic times.

Barefoot, busted and back in the U.S.

MIAMI — The American teen dubbed the “Barefoot Bandit” was deported to the U.S. on Tuesday, just hours after he pleaded guilty to a minor offense in the Bahamas. Law enforcement officials escorted Colton Harris-Moore on a commercial flight to Miami to face prosecution for a two-year string of break-ins and plane thefts across the nation. The FBI took him off the plane and put him into a waiting car. Officials said the 19-year-old was taken to a federal jail in Miami.

Consumer Reports faults iPhone 4 antenna in test

SEATTLE — Consumer Reports said it will not recommend Apple Inc.’s newest iPhone because of reception problems caused by its antenna design. Buyers are complaining that holding the gadget a certain way can cause reception to fade and calls to drop.
