On bustling Las Vegas Boulevard, just north of downtown, sits a clinic offering more than your average doctor’s office. The Gavin J Goorjian Health Center, an extension of the LGBTQ Center of Las Vegas, is a fully integrated health hub offering primary care, medication management, chronic disease treatment, HIV prevention and care, reproductive health, and more. It’s an all-in-one destination for high-quality, affirming care in a setting where patients are treated with respect and understanding.
Health Services That Support the Whole Person
The prevalence of chronic conditions has risen to unprecedented levels over the past twenty years, including diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and chronic kidney disease. This trend is expected to continue, with the number of Americans living with chronic diseases projected to reach 170 million by 2030.
“We endeavor to treat most healthcare problems at the Goorjian Health Center—like hypertension and diabetes, as well as what we hope are shorter term problems like addiction,” said Dr. Jerry Cade, Chief Medical Director for The Center. “For us, primary care treatment is more than just giving you medication for a particular disease—it is also helping to provide you with the services that you need to succeed. We look forward to being your healthcare partner for the rest of your life. We want everyone to be a part of our primary care healthcare delivery system.”
Accessible Care, Rooted in Advocacy
Built around real-world needs, the Health Center is a true one-stop shop. Annual labs and prescription services are all available on-site, reducing the need for multiple appointments across town. Same-day and telehealth appointments offer flexibility for people juggling work, school, or caregiving duties. And every Wednesday, a mobile clinic travels into the community to meet patients where they are—bringing essential services to those who need them most.
Affordability is another pillar of the Health Center’s mission. With sliding scale fees and financial assistance available, care is accessible to everyone—regardless of insurance status. Whether insured, underinsured, or uninsured, patients are never turned away. This commitment ensures that advocacy for equal access to care isn’t just a principle—it’s put into practice every day.
A Safe and Welcoming Community
What sets the Goorjian Health Center apart isn’t just what they do—it’s how they do it. From the first interaction at the front desk to follow-up calls after appointments, the staff is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment. Whether a patient is seeking routine care or navigating a new diagnosis, they’re met with patient-centered compassion and respect.
“This is a safe, supportive, caring space in every sense,” said Dr. Leana Ramirez, The Center’s Chief Clinical Officer. “People walk in and immediately feel like they belong. That’s intentional—and it’s built into everything we do.”
The Health Center is also a vital part of The Center’s broader community ecosystem. Although physically separate from The Center’s flagship location on Maryland Parkway, it remains deeply connected to the organization’s mission. Primary care patients can be connected to additional services and events hosted by The Center, such as food distribution, senior support programs, and seasonal community events like trunk-or-treats, book fairs, and toy drives.
“We don’t just treat symptoms—we care for the whole person,” says Dr. Ramirez. “We want people to walk out feeling their whole health is supported.”
Connected to The Center’s Mission
The Goorjian Health Center embodies all three pillars of The Center’s mission—Health Services, Advocacy, and Community. It provides high-quality care, ensures equitable access, and fosters a safe and welcoming environment where people can thrive.
