Now that winter’s chill is behind us, the warmer days of spring provide a perfect opportunity for you to save water—and earn a cash incentive—by converting your thirsty grass to colorful water-efficient landscaping through the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s (SNWA) Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program (WSL).
By upgrading your grass to drip-irrigated plants and trees, you’ll be able to better manage your monthly water bill, and your new landscape will be less labor-intensive than a traditional lawn. More importantly, you’ll be helping the community conserve our community’s limited water resources.

Begin the process by enrolling at snwa.com, where you’ll also find a list of desert-adapted plants and trees and sample landscape designs. While drip-irrigated plants and trees are lush and colorful, you can still save water and keep the look of grass by installing Kurapia and other lawn-alternative ground covers. These plants qualify for the WSL rebate, as they require less water and maintenance than lawns and can thrive during our hot summer months.
At the same time, you can earn a bonus of $100 for every new tree you install through the SNWA’s Tree Enhancement Program. A list of qualifying trees and other program criteria are available at snwa.com.

When it’s time to get to work, you can either dig in and do it yourself, or you can hire a landscape contractor. The SNWA website includes a list of Water Smart Contractors trained in water-efficiency practices.
Once your conversion is finished and approved by SNWA’s Conservation team, you’ll receive a cash incentive from the SNWA (certain restrictions apply).
So, what are you waiting for? Make your landscape water smart! Visit snwa.com for more information about the WSL program and enroll today.
