Landmark Study Shows: Screening with HPV alone misses more cervical cancers [infographic]

(BPT) - The indication for a standalone HPV test has lead to serious debate about how best to detect cervical cancer. Now, the largest real-world study of cervical cancer screening strategies adds new evidence showing that women’s lives are at risk if HPV alone screening is used.

One in five women with cervical cancer will be missed by HPV alone screening -- that’s an estimated 2,400 women in the U.S.

The facts are clear: Pap-plus-HPV is still the preferred standard in cervical cancer and pre-cancer detection.
