Putting the brakes on advanced breast cancer [infographic]

(BPT) - Developing treatments designed to inhibit specific pathways, and sometimes more than one pathway, may be more effective in treating advanced breast cancer. Pathways and pathway inhibition in the disease can be thought of like a city grid. For example, if you have a car trying to get from point A to point B, it has to navigate through various streets and roadblocks throughout the city, just like cancer cells are driving toward growth. The roadblocks represent inhibition of cancer cell growth.
