Mike McCoy and Chris Woodward each had a two-run double among his three hits Friday night to power the 51s to an 8-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League game in Fresno, Calif.
McCoy, who led off Las Vegas' three-run first inning with a double, laced a two-out, two-run double in the third that gave the 51s (61-45) a 6-4 lead.
Woodward's two-run double in the first inning followed an RBI single by Adeiny Hechavarria, who also had three hits in helping Las Vegas to a 15-6 edge in hits.
51s starter Sean O'Sullivan (10-5) pitched six innings and had trouble in only the second, when the Grizzlies (55-50) scored four runs. Brett Pill led off the inning with his eighth home run of the season. And, after an error and a walk, Ryan Lollis belted a three-run shot for his second homer of the year.
O'Sullivan, acquired from the Kansas City Royals organization for cash considerations on June 21, gave up three hits and one walk while striking out four. He is 5-1 with a 2.08 ERA with the 51s.
Jim Hoey pitched two innings of relief for Las Vegas, allowing an unearned run in the seventh before getting Pill to fly out with the bases loaded to end the inning. Jerry Gil gave up one hit in the ninth in earning his eighth save.
Third baseman Mark Sobolewski, in his seventh game for the 51s since his promotion from Double-A New Hampshire, went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the seventh, his first Triple-A home run.
The 51s, limited to one run on 10 hits in each of the first two games of the three-game set, were retired in order in just one inning, the fifth, to avoid a sweep.
Fresno's Clayton Tanner (0-1) gave up six runs on nine hits in three innings.
