51s blow lead, lose to Fresno

The 51s squandered an early five-run lead Tuesday in a 9-6 loss to the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League game in Fresno, Calif.

Las Vegas (39-47), which had won the first three games in the four-game series, scored five runs in the first three innings, including three in the first with the aid of two errors, to take a 5-0 lead.

But the Grizzlies chipped away, scoring in every inning from the fourth on, and finally took the lead with a four-run eighth.

Fresno loaded the bases in the eighth against reliever Billy Murphy (0-5), who walked Jesus Guzman to bring home the tying run. The Grizzlies took the lead on a wild pitch by Bubbie Buzachero, then tacked on runs with Matt Downs' sacrifice fly and a passed ball on Kyle Phillips.

Joe Inglett and Randy Ruiz each had two hits for the 51s, and Jason Lane homered.
