51s end losing skid with 4-2 win over Memphis

■ HIGHLIGHTS: At Memphis, Tenn., the 51s snapped a five-game losing streak behind a solid outing by starting pitcher Rafael Montero. The right-hander scattered four hits over eight inning, allowed one run and struck out four to help even his record at 3-3. ... Las Vegas (61-53) gave Montero all the support he would need with a three-run fourth inning. Wilmer Flores got the rally started with a one-out solo home run, his 15th of the season, Jordany Valdespin followed with a single, and Zach Lutz doubled him home. Matt den Dekker made it 3-0 with a single to left. ... Memphis (56-60) cut the 51s’ lead to 3-1 in the seventh on an RBI infield single by Greg Garcia. ... The 51s added an insurance run in the ninth inning when Eric Campbell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Brandon Hicks. ... The Redbirds made it 4-2 in their final at-bat on an RBI double by Garcia.
