51s end year with victory against Bees

The 51s capped the 2007 season with a victory, notching six third-inning runs in rolling past the host Salt Lake Bees 12-5 Monday in a Pacific Coast League game.

With Las Vegas up 2-1, Delwyn Young's RBI double -- his 54th of the year and a modern Pacific Coast League record -- got the third inning rolling. John Lindsey followed with an RBI double, Luis Maza and Wilson Valdez added RBI singles, and Octavio Martinez had a sacrifice fly during the outburst as the 51s took an 8-1 lead.

The 51s (67-77) scored three runs in the fifth, on a Joseph Becker RBI triple and a Valdez two-run homer.

Young's single in the ninth brought home Valdez, who finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Las Vegas starter Miguel Pinango (10-7) allowed three runs on eight hits, with four strikeouts, in five innings.

The Bees (74-69) got a two-run homer from Gregory Porter in the fourth and a Casey Smith solo shot in the eighth.

Salt Lake starter Douglas Brandt (0-1) didn't make it through the third inning, allowing seven runs on eight hits and a walk.
