51s fall short to River Cats

The 51s rallied to tie Sacramento in the ninth inning, but a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th gave the River Cats a 4-3 Pacific Coast League victory in West Sacramento, Calif.

Daric Barton singled off 51s reliever Davis Romero to open the 10th for the River Cats, and a Romero error on Matt Carson's sacrifice bunt put runners on first and second.

Danny Putnam's bunt single then loaded the bases, and Romero walked Jeff Baisley to bring Barton in with the winning run.

In the eighth inning, 51s manager Mike Basso and second baseman Jonathan Diaz were ejected after arguing with the umpire following a Diaz strikeout.

Following the ejections, Aaron Mathews doubled, then scored on a Randy Ruiz single for Las Vegas (19-30), and J.P. Arencibia tied it in the ninth with a solo homer.
