51s’ offense fails to generate runs in blowout loss to Grizzlies
The 51s managed just one run on 10 hits Wednesday night, while the host Fresno Grizzlies had plenty of offensive firepower in handing Las Vegas a 12-1 Pacific Coast League loss.
Las Vegas (60-44) took a 1-0 lead on David Cooper's sacrifice fly in the top of the third, but Fresno responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning - including Todd Linden's three-run triple - and held the 51s in check the rest of the way.
Brett Pill had a three-run homer in the Grizzlies' four-run eighth inning.
■ NOTES - Toronto demoted reliever Chad Beck to Las Vegas. ... Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia suffered a broken hand in Wednesday's 16-0 home loss to Oakland, getting hit by the ball on Brandon Inge's foul tip. Once Arencibia is placed on the disabled list today, the Blue Jays will recall pitchers Joel Carreno and Evan Crawford from the 51s.
