51s’ offense powers victory over Express

The 51s scored seven runs in the first five innings and coasted past Round Rock 8-5 on Wednesday in a Pacific Coast League game at Round Rock, Texas.

Las Vegas (66-52) took the lead quickly with Mike McDade's two-out RBI single in the first inning. In a three-run second inning, Tuffy Gosewisch and Kenen Bailli had back-to-back doubles, followed by RBI singles from Jonathan Diaz and Jack Cust.

Bailli added an RBI single in the third, and Mike McCoy's two-out, two-run double in the fifth put the 51s up 7-1.

Scott Richmond threw six solid innings for Las Vegas, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk, with six strikeouts. Reliever Chris Jakubauskas gave up three runs in the seventh as the Express pulled within 8-5, but Evan Crawford and Chad Beck closed it out with 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Ricardo Nanita paced the 51s' 14-hit attack, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
