51s, Rainiers tied when rain forces suspension

The 51s and Tacoma Rainiers were tied 3-3 entering the eighth inning Saturday night when rain forced the suspension of their Pacific Coast League game at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.

The teams were scheduled to play two seven-inning games Saturday, after rain prompted their Friday game to be postponed. They will pick up in the eighth inning at 1:35 p.m. today to complete Saturday's first game and then play a nine-inning game.

The 51s (47-51), who have won nine straight, scored all of their runs Saturday on Andy LaRoche's 11th home run of the season, a three-run shot in the third inning. The hit followed a single by Chin-Lung Hu and a walk to John Lindsey.

The Rainiers (43-56) scored single runs in the second and fifth innings before tying the score on Bryan LaHair's leadoff homer in the sixth.

Eric Cyr pitched the first five innings for Las Vegas, giving up one earned run on three hits and four walks. He struck out eight.
