51s rally past Aces in 10

Aaron Mathews' tiebreaking RBI single lifted the 51s over the host Reno Aces 5-4 in 10 innings Thursday in a Pacific Coast League game.

It was Las Vegas' second straight 10-inning victory over the Aces, after beating them 12-9 on Wednesday in the opener of the five-game series.

Reno (44-44) took a 4-1 lead Thursday on Chris Roberson's two-run homer in the third inning.

But the 51s (41-47) clawed back, scoring on Buck Coats' sacrifice fly in the fifth and Brett Harper's solo homer in the sixth. Jason Lane tied the game 4-4 in the ninth with his sixth home run, off reliever Abe Woody (1-2).

Kevin Howard also supplied a solo homer for Las Vegas, in the second inning. Howard, Lane and Harper each finished with three hits.

The 51s' bullpen held Reno to two hits over the final four innings.

Rommie Lewis (1-0) picked up the victory with a hitless ninth inning, and Bubbie Buzachero worked the 10th for his second save.

Woody was charged with two runs on five hits and one walk in two innings.
