51s waste six-run lead, fall to Tucson

Jedd Gyorko hit a tiebreaking solo home run in the eighth inning Tuesday night to cap the Tucson Padres' rally from a six-run deficit in an 11-10 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game in Tucson, Ariz.

Gyorko, who finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs, also had a run-scoring single in the Padres' six-run sixth inning that tied the score at 10. Matt Clark and Yasmani Grandal hit back-to-back homers in the sixth for Tucson (19-33), which scored all of its runs in the inning with two outs.

Las Vegas (28-24), which had won four straight games and eight of its past 10, went up 10-4 with five runs in the top of the sixth, highlighted by Yan Gomes' grand slam.

Travis d'Arnaud and Danny Perales each had a homer among his three hits for the 51s, who left 10 runners on base and were shut out on one hit over the final 3 2/3 innings by three Tucson relievers.

Tim Redding gave up six Padres runs in his lone inning. Bobby Korecky (3-1) allowed Gyorko's decisive home run.

■ NOTE - The Toronto Blue Jays recalled infielder Mike McCoy from the 51s and optioned outfielder Eric Thames to Las Vegas.

McCoy hit .238 and drove in 14 runs in 44 games with Las Vegas. The 25-year-old Thames appeared in 46 games for Toronto this season, hitting .243 with seven doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs.
