Aggies hand UNR another home loss

RENO -- Jahmar Young scored 17 points and Wendell McKines hit a 3-pointer with 58 seconds to play, lifting New Mexico State to a 62-60 victory over UNR on Saturday.

McKines supplied 10 rebounds and 13 points, including the decisive shot for the Aggies (12-12, 6-5 Western Athletic Conference). Hamidu Rahman added 11 points.

Armon Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Wolf Pack (13-10, 6-4 WAC), who suffered their second home defeat in three days. They were beaten by Louisiana Tech at the Lawlor Center on Thursday.

Johnson made a driving layup with 1:28 remaining to give UNR a 60-59 lead. But New Mexico State responded with McKines' long 3-pointer from the top of the key.

The Wolf Pack had a last chance to win in the final seconds, but Luke Babbitt's 3-point attempt bounced off the rim at the buzzer. The freshman finished with 14 points.
