Alaskan moves in front in Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open

Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Alaska, averaged 218.4 to take the second-round lead in the Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open at the Suncoast Bowling Center.
A two-time PBA50 Tour Player of the Year and 2011 Senior U.S. Open winner, Mohr has compiled a 3,495 16-game pinfall total and has an eight-pin lead over PBA Hall of Famer Randy Pederson of Clermont, Fla. In Wednesday’s eight-game round, Mohr had games of 202, 211, 209, 232, 224, 197, 195 and 277.
A field of 53 players who advanced to this morning’s third round will be whittled to 24 for round-robin match play beginning this afternoon. Match play continues Friday, when the top four players will advance to the stepladder finals, which are slated to start at 4 p.m.
Defending Senior U.S. Open champion and PBA Hall of Famer Amleto Monacelli of Venezuela is in third place, 34 pins off the pace. Ron Winger of Las Vegas is in 14th place (3,337)
