Avengers breeze past Gladiators

LOS ANGELES -- Sonny Cumbie threw six touchdown passes to help the playoff-bound Los Angeles Avengers beat the Las Vegas Gladiators 60-42 on Sunday in the Arena Football League.

Cumbie was 27 of 40 for 291 yards, and Rob Turner had 11 catches for 98 yards and three touchdowns for the Avengers (9-6).

Nick Rolovich threw three touchdown passes for the Gladiators (2-13), and Brian Jones added two scoring passes. Travis LaTendresse had nine catches for 210 yards and four TDs.

The Gladiators kept their turnovers down, with Rolovich throwing one interception, but six consecutive Avengers scores -- five touchdowns and a safety -- turned a 21-14 Las Vegas lead into a 51-21 deficit.
